The Orchard Hill Observatory is UMass Amherst's premier optical observatory. It is located on the highest point on the UMass campus and is home to a 16-inch Cassegrain telescope. The observatory is used for research, events, and also for the famous open observatory nights.

The observatory is open to the public on Thursday nights from 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM. Private group tours are also available.
